Unwtd Yuth’s newest ready-to-wear catalog Crime School collection speaks to the disparities in American school system. Blacks & other ethnic groups face due to limited opportunities, policies & systematic racism. Crime school speaks to the kids growing with the sense of being unwanted in certain spaces & underserved by a system. This collection is dedicated to the many specific experiences growing up in American society as marginalized groups. At times we find ourselves programmed by false connotations & negative perceptions which lead to subconsciously learned traits in character. Crime school is a tribute to the lives forever altered by the biased eyes of the stereotyping machine. Placing emphasis on self education as a remedy to the destructive power of miseducation. Working together as a unit to dismantling a system that contributes to the criminal element. Inspired by the School to prison pipeline theory, the theme & irony of the collection lies in the idea of crime as an element for educational & survival means in order to disturb the flow of the systemic pipe.
